Condoms by size – it’s the width that counts
A condom’s size is determined by its nominal width, which is the width of the condom when laid flat, measured in millimetres. Most models are 52–53 mm wide and suit many people, but not everyone. You’ll find the width of each model in the product details.
When to look for a different size
- If it feels tight or breaks – it’s usually too narrow. Try a larger size: from 56 mm, including SAGAMI Original L and XL, SKYN Large, Dolphi XXXXXL and ONE Legend XL.
- It slips down – it’s usually too wide. Try a smaller size: 50–51 mm, such as SKYN Close Feel and UNIQ Secure Feet.
How to choose the width
Measure the circumference of your penis at its widest point during an erection and divide the result by two. This will give you an approximate nominal width to look for. Length is less important: most condoms are 170–190 mm long, and the unrolled part simply stays at the base.
Polyurethane condoms (SAGAMI Original) stretch less than latex ones, so it’s worth choosing the size more carefully with these. Standard SAGAMI Original condoms are 55–56 mm wide, which is wider than most latex models.
Good to know
Condoms reduce the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, but no method offers complete protection. Before use, check the expiry date and read the manufacturer’s instructions.
